Beautiful Ponytails that You Can Wear Anywhere

No matter how many styles of buns and braids we can create, we always go back to a ponytail for a quick and easy hairstyle. Ponytails come in many varieties – from high-slung ones to low, sleek ones – so you never run out of ideas while tying up your hair!

Whether your hair is short or long, straight, wavy or curly, try out these ponytail hairstyles that are not only bound to look awesome on you but are also failsafe to wear anywhere:

Sleek Low Ponytail with a Side Part

Sleek Low Ponytail with a Side Part

Transform your pony from an everyday fixture to a glam hairstyle that you can sport to work as well as to a cocktail party. Spritz some strand-smoother serum spray on your hair and comb it thoroughly to make it smooth, soft and tangle-free. The product will also lend a subtle shine to the strands, making them look glossy and vibrant, but not greasy. Gather all your hair at the nape of your neck and secure it with elastic to make a sleek low ponytail.

This hairstyle literally takes 2 minutes to create and is therefore a perfect for times when you’re racing against the clock. To make your ponytail look extra stylish, wear it with a side part and let your face framing hair sections contour your forehead beautifully. For an ultra-polished finish, slick flyways and cowlicks with some clean styling gel or a fine control hairspray.

This pony works best with shoulder-length to long hair of all textures.

Voluminous High Ponytail

Voluminous High Ponytail

When you’re in the mood to have fun with your hair and make your go-to hairstyle a tad more exciting, a voluminous high ponytail won’t disappoint you. To add extra volume to your regular high pony, spritz some high-lift creation hairspray on the roots around your crown and comb your hair with a boar bristle hairbrush; lift your hair strands as you work the product in with your fingers. Using a fine-toothed comb, gently tease the under layers of your hair around the crown by back brushing and smooth over the top layers to conceal the teased section. Next, flip your head forward, gather all your hair at the back of your head and secure with elastic. Using your fingers, loosen your hair around the crown and towards the back to produce an effortlessly chic and voluminous effect.

You can create this hairstyle in 5 minutes flat with medium-length detangled hair of any texture and wear it to work, to a party or a night out on the town.

Step one

Brush your hair through then mist evenly with salt spray. Brush it again and gather it all up into a high ponytail.

Step two

Take a section of hair from the pony, wrap it around the hair tie then pin underneath to hold it in place. Camouflage never seemed so chic!

Step three

Before creating the twist, back-comb the pony to boost volume then split it into two halves.

Step four

Twist each half separately but in the same direction. To create the rope, wind them around each other in the opposite direction to the one you twisted them in. So, if you twisted the separate sections clockwise, wind them anti-clockwise to form the braid. Once you get to the very ends, secure with a small hair elastic.

Step five

Spray your new ‘do with more salt spray and you’re done!

French Braid Ponytail

French Braid Ponytail

An interesting way to add beautiful, intricate details to your regular pony hairstyle is by pairing it with a French braid. Creating a French braid ponytail is easier than it looks and does not take more than 10 minutes to create.

To create this ponytail, apply some frizz remover cream through your hair to detangle knots and make your tresses look soft, shiny and healthy. Comb your hair thoroughly and make a French braid starting at the crown of your head, all the way to the nape of your neck; secure the end with elastic and there – you have a French braid pony!

Create this beautiful ponytail hairstyle with medium-length to long hair and wear it to the workplace, for window-shopping with friends or on a date night with a special someone!

Step one
Begin by brushing your hair through then part it deep on one side.

Step two
Next, tip your head so that your cheek is parallel with the floor. At your hairline on the side facing upward, take a piece of hair from near your temple and divide it into three sections.

Step three
Now you can start braiding the hair, adding small pieces into the braid as you go.

Step four
Keep braiding until your reach the other side of your head then secure the braid just below your ear.

Step five
If the resulting braid looks a little messy, that’s totally fine because tousled, bohemian styles are right on-trend at the moment! You can pin back any major pieces that have fallen out and even pin down parts of the braid if you need to.

Step six
Tease a couple of wispy sections loose at the front to frame your face then complete the look with a mist of strong-hold finishing spray. That’s it!
